IT'S THE THOUGHT THAT COUNTS…RIGHT?

Entrepreneur.com - December 13, 2006 –

So who's giving more gifts in your office this holiday season? This survey by CareerBuilder.com and Shoplocal.com shows that while 56 percent of bosses say they will give gifts to employees, only 29 percent of workers say they plan to spread the holiday cheer.

Of those generous bosses handing out gifts, the survey shows that one in 10 will spend more than $50 per employee, and a third will spend $10 or less. So what are bosses giving this December? Cash is the most popular gift, with 52 percent of bosses planning to give gift cards, gift certificates or money.

Surprisingly, the survey also discovered that the more money employees earn, the less likely they are to buy their boss a gift. Thirty-four percent of workers earning less than $50,000 said they were going to buy holiday gifts for their bosses, while only 23 percent of workers bringing in over $100,000 will do so.
