Friendly Nuptuals

Weddings can be a grand affair or a simple ceremony. Every
couple has a different dream, but they can all make basic
choices to help green their celebration -- starting with invitations
made from recycled paper.
Eva Yusa, of ShopLocal, says "I love this one. It's
done with beautiful leaf so you're getting a unique invitation
something you can really personalize."
ShopLocal offers simple ideas about how to throw a green
event. Mary Catherine O'Connor and her fiancee Steve Gennrich
are taking those ideas to heart. Steve says "we're saving
a lot of money by being low impact." The dress is O'Connor's
sister's, the site is picturesque Fort Mason, a location that
doesn't need to be dressed up.
Mary Catherine says "I had a lot of different ideas
for the room and finally realized the decor is the view if
you consider that in wedding planning you can save on cost
and waste."
This couple chose organic chef catering, who is dishing up
even more green ideas. Plates that can be composted along
with wedding food waste.
Centerpieces are living plants instead of cut flowers that
are often flown in from around the world. Plants even double
as gifts for family and friends.
Steve and Mary Catherine say while their wedding will be
green, it won't feel much different for guests. And they'll
feel better walking down the aisle leaving a lighter footprint
behind.
