Accipiter Signs ShopLocal as AdManager
Hosted Customer
ShopLocal, in Partnership with Gannett Co, Inc
(NYSE:GCI), Tribune Company (NYSE:TRB), and Knight Ridder,
Inc. (NYSE:KRI), Provides Targeted Ads Across Site Network
LONDON, UK and RALEIGH, NC - September 26, 2005
- Accipiter Solutions, Inc., an online advertising
technology innovator since 1996, today announced they have
signed ShopLocal as a new AdManager Hosted customer. ShopLocal,
the leading provider of Web shopping services for major retailers
and other local businesses, is yet another customer in the
eCommerce-related industry turning to Accipiter for its ad
management expertise.
ShopLocal recently launched display advertising using Accipiter's
technology on its ShopLocal.com web site and ShopLocal network.
Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE:GCI), Tribune Company (NYSE:TRB),
and Knight Ridder, Inc. (NYSE:KRI) are partners in ShopLocal.
As such, ShopLocal has a joint agreement to share all advertising
on its premier site, www.ShopLocal.com. This posed a unique
challenge as the company required a solution that would allow
them to serve ads to ShopLocal.com visitors based on their
zip code.

our ad impressions with our newspaper partners' current ad

Another key advantage of selecting AdManager is that the
system allows ShopLocal to take advantage of the advanced
ad campaign container feature. In their effort to maintain
an ad serving split with the other newspaper groups, it is
important for ShopLocal to establish a greater hierarchy to
those "split" campaigns above other campaign groupings.
By following its own set of rules, AdManager containers group
related campaigns that are then independently rotated based
on their assigned weight. ShopLocal campaigns now rotate evenly
based on their assigned weight and expire when their goals
have been met, allowing for smooth ad distribution across
its entire site network.
